1-2 October 2009 – Blog Rally for Secondary 3 Students
Today, you will explore the blog I created for you. First of all, take a sheet of paper, write your name and your group number on the right at the top. Write number 1 to 15 on your page and then write your answers to what I am asking you for each number:
1. In the “English TV” section, look at the TV show suggestions that are given and write one suggestion of a TV show for Sunday nights.
2. Go to the “MY BEST LINKS” section on the left of the screen and find the link to Merriam Webster’s Word Central, go to this website. Use this great online dictionary to find the definition to the word squawk write the answer on your sheet.
3. Give your answer to the following question: True or False? Only English articles and websites can be consulted on the blog? If this is false, correct it.
4. If you are one day looking for extra exercises on a specific grammar matter, I highly suggest you print one of the exercises available on the following website: click the link on the left named “English Practice – printable worksheets” and look at the list of exercises available to you. Write the name of one exercise that you think would be useful for you at this moment of the school year. (It is not necessary to print the exercise today.)
5. On the blog, you can also practise your vocabulary in English. Why don’t you have a look at this online quiz on Thanksgiving (October 11th this year in Canada). Complete the quiz and indicate your score on your sheet at number 5:

From this point, you will be taking a series of online quizzes that will make you see all the possibilities the NET offers you to practise English but also, these quizzes have been chosen because they will help you on the next in-class exam. On your sheet, write your score for each of them.
